A World of Words

This picture shows the spatial lay out of Marine Le Pen's discursive universe. Using factorial analysis in Hyperbase, one can create a "map" of all the most used words and how they correlate to one another: the closer they are spatially, the stronger their correlation, or how often they appear together.

For instance, and unsurprisingly, "immigration" is close to "frontière" (border), "problème", "chômage" (unemployment) but also to "entreprise" (companies), "salaire" (wages), "emploi" (jobs), "coût" (cost), "concurrence" (competition), which shows how Marine Le Pen's discourse on immigration is presented as an economic argument first, rather than a cultural or ethnic one.
